Hope

I'm beginning to feel very emotional. I am so thankful to be alive and witness to this historic moment in humanity and feel hopeful that this is just the beginning.

This is harder than I thought.

My intention was to post a photo a day to this space. Hah! I'm playing catch up here. It's been bitter cold the past few days, which makes one want to hibernate. I have been taking pictures, but when Cail is with me I am cooking and having a wonderful time being with him. He is 12, has been home-schooled his whole life, and now wants to go to school. He is going to DC with his father for the inauguration and when he returns will begin 7th grade at the middle school. It is a bittersweet event but I'm happy for him. He is craving the company of his peers.

Snow on the lavendar

The rain finally turned to snow. The rain we received over 36 hours would have been three feet of snow when I first moved to West Virginia 20 (!) years ago.

Multiple sources of light

This is a cousin of an image that was chosen to be in an exhibit by the instructor of the digital photography class I took this fall. Due to my terrible back-up system I don't have the original. My instructor has it and I will post it when I get it from him. A lesson to be learned!

Changed my lens to the 50mm. I love this lens.

A new year

One of my goals for 2009 is to be more diligent about my photography. I have so much to learn and know the best way to do so is by taking pictures. I'm not going to say I'll take a photo a day but I'd be very pleased if I did! Here are the first three for the year.

As is often the case with January, dreary is the best way to describe the weather. The photo of the garden bench says it all!
